Any best practices for optimizing CRM deployment.??? DB about 180 GB.

there are many questions before a proposed solution can be made. Some of them are:
1.) What is SQL back end (Both HW and applications wise)?
2.) Is there SQL maintenance plan in place, and what is it?
3.) Where does the slowness occur? Specific forms, reports and so on?
4). Is it always slow, or pick hours, or when a specific action takes place?
5). Is Anti Virus running on a station, server or both?
6). Have you implemented Microsoft Best Practices for CRM SQL DB?
