7) Security Role Browser for Dynamics CRM 2011

Security Role browser for Dynamics CRM 2011 addresses some of the following pain points while configuring, documenting and trying to resolve issues related to security model in Dynamics CRM 2011. Key features of this application are:
• For debugging purpose, Ability to load system users in the CRM application and load a single color encoded view to describe level of access of a user to an entity/set of entities based on his/her security role.
• For debugging purpose, Ability to load teams in the CRM application and load a single color encoded view to describe level of access of a team to an entity/set of entities based on his/her security role.
• For documentation purpose, Ability to generate various privileges on an Entity for various security roles in one view.
• For documentation purpose, Ability to generate various privileges on all entities of a single security role.
• For documentation purpose, Ability to export Excel format output and use it for documentation purpose.
The project uses the Connection Control for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 which is available at https://connectioncontrol.codeplex.com. I recommend using this tool for anyone who needs to connect to CRM instances be it office 365, on-premise or IFD.

9) Role-Based SiteMap : Show/Hide Settings Area in CRM 2011

Show/Hide Settings area based on the roles

Following are the steps to solve the problem:

 1. Create a new entity named “RoleHideSettingsResource”(any name of your choice).
 2. Give read access of newly created entity only to the Administrator and System Customizer.No other users will have any permission as shown below:

 1. Get the Sitemap xml(using any editor tool*) and edit it as follows :

Search for <Area Id=”Settings” ResourceId=”Area_Settings”
and then add:
<Privilege Entity="new_rolehidesettingsresource" Privilege="Read" />
to all theSubAreas as shown below :
<Area Id="Settings" ResourceId="Area_Settings" ShowGroups="true" Icon="/_imgs/settings_24x24.gif" DescriptionResourceId="Settings_Area_Description">
<Group Id="Business_Setting" ResourceId="Menu_Label_Business" DescriptionResourceId="Menu_Label_Business">
<SubArea Id="nav_businessmanagement" ResourceId="Homepage_BusinessManagement" DescriptionResourceId="BizManagement_SubArea_Description" Icon="/_imgs/ico_18_busmanagement.gif" Url="/tools/business/business.aspx" AvailableOffline="false">
<Privilege Entity="new_rolehidesettingsresource" Privilege="Read" />
</SubArea>

4.Save the xml and update the sitemap and assign appropriate roles to the users.

10.Tracking of mails- settings?

System Integrator at GlobalConnect – CRM, sales processes and international sales/cooperation

Hi,
does anyone know what setting in Security roles (which entity) I need to change to decide what options for tracking a user has (for example if he/she can track an email to a lead and an opportunity – or only to an account) – and how you set which entity should be chosen for tracking as default?

>> ANSWER — You need to set the APPEND TO permissions for the entities you want to track to and the APPEND permission for the Activity entity.

CRM 4.0:
From Rami Heleg’s blog
Role entities contains a few tabs.
After select second tab get a list with CRM entities to define roles
i would like to sort the list of entities else needs to find each entity.
Here is the solution:
Create a new file JS for instance roles.js
Add java scripts to this file for event onLoad:

a var tbl = document.getElementById(‘tab1’).children(0).children(0).children(0).children(0).children(0);
